And if a neighbor makes it impossible for his neighbor to live without theft and without deception in order to conceal the theft, and then builds a vile prison and puts him there with the help of some lesser laws that he created, and does all this, using his mental or physical superiority, is it conceivable that Divine Justice will allow this neighbor to escape punishment? If the Divine Law says that “the earth belongs to the Lord” and that it is given to man by birth, and several people divide it among themselves and force the vast majority to cultivate it for their own benefit, would it be possible to prevent the fulfillment of the Divine Law by means of miserable laws invented by people to take possession of this land? If the Divine Law commands man to do good, not evil, and if other men have deprived him of his freedom of choice by laws imposing only one mode of action upon him (do they believe that these laws will do good, or not), will man not consciously violate these laws in order to regain his freedom of action, to whatever effect it may lead; and if he will one day realize that his lesser laws were not really devised for his safety, but only for his exploitation?
The situation in the world is such that the revolution that threatened a few years ago, when the public outcry for reform was first heard, is much closer now, and it is the supposed reforms that lead to it - and it is because of ulterior motives, wrong methods and unwise laws that will quickly reduce the role of man to the position of an automaton if they are allowed to spread and persist forever.
Look at the essence of things. Do not go away with surface water. Make

WISDOM Lesson 128
The wise man knows that an unconditional, unchanging period of earthly existence is absolutely impossible for man in his present state, he knows that history repeats itself throughout eternity in infinite periods.
He knows with the same confidence that the democracy of one epoch paves the way for the monarchy of the next, and that the tide that throws the waters of the ocean to the shores invariably follows the tide that carries them back in perfect rhythm.
He also knows that every tide in life, like the movement of the waters in the ocean, must be used in time to deliver to the port of destination a valuable load of treasure or experience; and therefore he takes advantage of any favorable tide in the affairs of men and nations to hasten the establishment of his ideals, and then, when the wave subsides, retreats to some safe harbor to keep his strength. But the wise man also knows that behind every tide, behind every movement of the sun, stars, and planets, behind every cycle of manifestation, there is a higher force governing everything, operating from the center of the whole - the place of the world - the point where all movement ceases and unity reigns, and that he must tune in to this force if he wants to succeed. This is the point where the Father can no longer become the Son, and the Son can no longer become the Father. That state of existence where the Father is eternally ruling and the Son is eternally serving - where the Mother and the Father are one in the Son, and each shares the greatness of the other.
And the wise man understands that no matter how often the older son in many sons is differentiated over time, no matter how often the night passes into the day and is not replaced by a tide of life, no matter how often the destructive forces in the attempts to create more desirable conditions do not establish democracy, people will again and again return to their original, paternal - monarchical - form of government; therefore, instead of spending their lives on those changes, he tries to spend his life on.
It is because of his knowledge of the ebb and flow of life that the Grand White Lodge Master-Initiate shapes all his creations according to the laws that govern this Lodge-the paternal form of government and control--however ineffective the parent of any of his creations may be at the initial stage of creation. It would seem that this contradicts the advice and instructions that We gave in relation to the communist trends, but in reality this is not true, because the sooner the tidal wave of a democratic or socialist community is achieved, the sooner the most worthy representatives of humanity of this period and the people will achieve, having passed through this experience, the apogees of their development and, thus, will be prepared to move to another sphere of activity with greater opportunities. Believe Me when I tell you that there is no such thing as a dying civilization, despite the contrary claims of political economists.
The fact that the sons and daughters of a truly great man have been degraded does not prove that they inherited their tendency to degenerate from a parent or that they can be held responsible for the degradation of their own children. If this parent is truly a great person, he moves to another sphere of activity at the highest point of his development, the sphere where his children have a great relationship with each other.
No more than the children of another person. Then he comes even closer to the sphere of divine Fatherhood.
The ordinary man does not understand that a race which appears to degenerate can only be a race of ascending souls, more material, closer to the animal state, who must by conscious contact with evil recognize its terrifying nature, like those who have already passed through it. But when I speak of those who are on the crest of the tidal wave, I do not necessarily mean the rich, the powerful, the great in the world's sense - but the rich, the powerful, the great in mind, nature, soul, whatever the external circumstances.
When the thirst for democratic government embraces a people, it means that this race or nation is approaching the climax of development that it has been able to achieve as a whole. The way is being prepared for the separation of the “goats from the sheep” of this cycle, as the prophet pointed out - the sheep are being removed to be reborn in a higher form of civilization, perhaps on another planet, figuratively speaking, “at the right hand of God.” Goats, however, who are gripped by passions and more coarse descendants, will go to knowledge by the way of the “left hand”, by the way of suffering, in order to, in turn, be able to rise to the level reached by the “sheep”. Many peoples of the earth are now going through the throes of such training, hence the craze in the world for democratic rule. The wise man stands aside, looks forward, and heeds, knowing the inevitable result.
War Lesson 156
It is almost inevitable that by uttering a simple truth pertaining to any subject, you run the risk of being decidedly misunderstood or of causing anger. Perhaps the truth thus spoken would become quite obvious if it were given time and quiet reflection; but usually the first impulse of the listener is denial, and since the argument only strengthens the positions taken by both sides, its main cause, truth, sinks into the ocean of words even before the dispute is over.
When I say that democracy is a mistake, and that a democratic form of government is neither right nor wise nor lasting. I see either denial or confusion on your faces, although both of these statements are absolutely true from the White Lodge’s point of view at the moment. Perhaps the statement would be met with less hostility, say I, that this form of government is neither true nor wise, nor firm in certain periods of manvantara. However, in terms of unity, evolution and spiritual reality, the idea of democracy is unacceptable.
Consider this argument from the standpoint of evolution alone. It is obvious to those who study life deeply that there are no two absolutely identical personalities in the world. The highest ideal that an individual can grasp is very different from the highest ideals of other people. True democracy would require a race of absolutely identical beings, a race of people with common desires or aspirations without opposition generated by the desires and ambitions of its individual representatives beyond the middle level.
In a middle democracy, it is only necessary for a person to stand out among his neighbors, jealousy, envy and discontent on the part of the majority of his comrades will follow. The same is true of the autocracy of today; but here the reason for this discontent lies in the manifestly wrong actions of the upper class, the class in power. All this has nothing to do with the ideal patriarchal form of government of the Grand White Lodge, an organization that is practically an autocracy.
In terms of divine law, every creature of life, whether human or animal, plant or mineral, is at any time exactly in its place. If they could be constantly moved from place to place by some outside forces, the result would be death or degeneration. There is a specific place, position, and purpose for each individual creature. The law of Karma determines them at each appropriate period of time according to the nature of the desires and actions of the individual, and no creature or individual can move this individuality from its position on the universal scale of life without negative results, unless the law of Karma prescribes such a move.
In an ideal patriarchal form of government or monarchy, the father or monarch is in the position of ruler because he was placed there by the karmic law. Every son or daughter who is a direct descendant, or other person who is assigned insignia, occupies his natural position, because they were placed there by the karmic law. If this is true, how can a democracy with all the power in the hands of a people most of whom are not developed enough to understand their own natural position on the scale of life, have the right to choose from their number someone of whose proper level they also know nothing, and to place it on a level of which they are equally unaware, and to expect something besides division, discontent and, ultimately, rebellion? The answer to this question today is the same as at all times: "Because of their hardness of heart, God sent them." In other words, because of his ignorance, self-will, and lack of spiritual insight, a person tries to change the laws established by God and nature, and he is allowed to try. Otherwise, it can be expressed in such a way that in some periods of the great Manvantara, at the lowest point of certain cycles, the spiritual understanding of man is at a low level. The gods have not yet intervened to give impetus to the new evolutionary forces for the ascent of the cycle. The spirit of anxiety embraces the masses; they are possessed by the desire for change and all that such change can bring; the result is the overthrow of the old and the establishment of the new order. But the new order, manifesting itself in such cases on the lower arc of the cycle, cannot hold all the time. Gradually, as knowledge and power increase, the old order - the higher order - is restored and continues until the evolutionary forces of the new cycle weaken, lose their tension and purpose, and then a new change occurs.
However, if this view is not acceptable to you now, keep in mind that the evolutionary law operates in a spiral, not a vicious circle; and each
The rotation of the spiral in each Manvantara means the ascent of humanity to ever-increasing heights of Wisdom and Power. Provisions on the universal scale of life, eternal in nature, occupied now by unacceptable, autocratic and unwise monarchs and nobles, will one day in the next century be occupied by the Masters of Wisdom and the rest of life will change in the same way. In other words, the Gods will live next to man again, as they did in the ascending arc of previous cycles, and democracy will then remain for a very long time only a word forgotten by the ideal.
Remember what I tell you. Democracy may be the only acceptable ideal for the human masses of this age, and it will be relatively right and wise; but it is neither right nor wise from the standpoint of the Overself, and democracy cannot exist among people who have attained the highest development in their individual evolutionary cycles.
The present world war is one of the results of Nature’s efforts to sweep away the old conditions, and from a certain point of view it is absolutely inevitable at this time. As a worldly, material event, it may seem necessary and fair to the consciousness of many people, but paradoxically, the individual who calls for war and encourages its continuation is the object of sharp criticism.
The same effects on race could have a series of fires and floods, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. That is, a large part of the race could be destroyed by natural causes, and a new race would subsequently be born from the survivors; but man in his ignorance cannot wait that long. He convinces himself that he has to get ahead of events and see the life sacrificed from a different angle in order to satisfy the bloodlust of his nature, thus creating a heavy Karma that will naturally fall on the races that will live at the end of the next world period, like many living in the present cycle. If this destruction of lives had been provided by natural causes, such Karma would not have fallen on a new race.
But do not forget about the spiral ascent of life. The war will one day cease, and a government will be established that is in accordance with the divine law; a government that will be lasting. For the highest spiral will be reached when the evolutionary forces of the lower arc of the cycle no longer affect man, pushing him to perdition, because he will enter into his inalienable divine birthright.
WAR AND PEACE Lesson 188
Step by step, through incredible anguish and suffering, the human race evolves to the point where the destruction of life becomes unacceptable to it: and as the final result of this evolution, all levels of matter constituting the physical plane will change, but the completion of these changes cannot occur while the Fifth Race of humanity is in manifestation. All cosmic possibilities must first appear as ideals in the consciousness of the race. The ideals of universal peace, universal freedom, love and harmony, which are formed in
The minds of the most highly developed members of the present race will be assimilated in the centuries to come. In the present age, as in all previous ages, the highest ideals of mankind for a given age are formed by the activities and teachings of the Sons of Wisdom, and these teachings are always first given to a group of chosen neophytes or disciples in the century preceding that in which it will be possible on the physical plane to realize the ideals created by the broadly directed efforts of the group I have mentioned. In the Messianic cycle, the growth and objectification of high ideals is faster than in other cycles, which is now obvious: for at a time when, on the one hand, there is a clear increase in what is usually called evil, on the other hand, there is a huge increase in efforts to establish justice in all directions. The idea of permanent peace between nations is rapidly maturing in the most highly developed minds of all nations and is the result of the teachings of a certain group of disciples during the last Messianic cycle. But this world cannot be realized until the precepts of the Karmic law are fulfilled, namely, the karma created by the rejection of these teachings by the then-incarnated masses, as well as the abuse of these teachings in the following centuries, is extinguished.
It must be remembered that just as the different races and races overlap each other, so do the precepts of the karmic law overlap. By comparison, only a small fraction of the karma of a race or nation is fully extinguished during the cycle in which it was created. The destiny of racial and national karma, both good and bad, created in the present war, will fall in part upon some sub-races of the Sixth Race, to be fulfilled or redeemed during its Third and Fourth Sub-races, when another Messianic cycle will come, and all the unredeemed karma of all the preceding races will fall upon humanity, which will be tested to reach the highest point of development of the race - the last one's test. But the possibility of avoiding the action of karma in the present cycle should not cause a person of high discernment to plunge into the present carnage. He should have a higher motive than getting rid of karma by actively participating in hostilities, if possible. A people or a person has an excuse for waging war against another people or another person only when their own life and security or the life and safety of another people or person are at stake, that is, the motive is protection.
There was a time, not so many years ago, when much of the negative karma that the present race is redeeming could have been paid for by means far different from those that precipitated the present world crisis, but people did not hear or obey the decrees — no, the invocations — of the Initiates and Prophets of the Great White Lodge as they were being given during the preceding centuries, as well as in the century that ended in the Great White Lodge 1898 The Karmic Law has no alternative but to reach its climax in the present world war. But this does not mean that the war is at least somehow expedient with the highest
From the spiritual point of view (where Spirit and Matter are one), and the White Lodge’s neophyte should be careful to make a distinction when he expresses his own position and that of the Temple of Humanity. As an individual, he must be guided in his actions by motive and duty, independent of the final fruits of his activities, whether he takes an active or passive part in the war. If he is convinced that the life and safety of his own people, or of any other people with their crowded human races, are at stake, and believes that it is his duty to call upon him to take an active part in the protection of that people, he should be regarded as an apostate from the principles no more than he who sees his duty in something else. Any person can be much greater spiritually than another, because of the purity and unselfishness of his motives and those sacrifices to which he can be called. In the name of his Higher Self, he must stand or fall. But whatever may be his personal action or motive for action or inaction, he has no right to err in the main, by asserting that an organization of which he is a member, an organization built on the principle of the brotherhood of men, regardless of nationality and faith, cannot be perfectly right if it does not approve of his motive for action or inaction. Guided by his motive, he is quite right from his point of view. The organization to which he belongs is a right from the point of view of a universal principle. The wide gap between the general and particulars, and the wise, of course, fills it with what is right and just from a spiritual point of view.
Because of the great responsibility assumed by the human mind when it comes to such a question as the rejection of the vehicle through which the incarnating Ego must contact the world of matter in order to defend what is to that mind a spiritual principle, a thinking entity. Man must be careful that the thought waves of others do not strike his mind with such force that his presentation of the question to his Higher Self would not become a question of another individuality or individuality, and the answer received either by direct text or by impression could not be applied more to those who influenced the action of his mind than directly to it.
This possibility is rooted in the fundamental unity of mankind, for the closer the spiritual planes of action draw together, the more obvious to the soul is the essential unity of the race. Therefore, the responsibility of a person who voluntarily submits to the influence of others, when it is necessary to make any important decision, is as great as the responsibility of one or those who give free rein to the mental waves that influence this decision. The thought waves of the public present at the murder trial can have a much greater impact on the adjudication and sentence of the jury and the judges than all the evidence presented could have done. The negative conditions in which the jury and the judge would certainly find themselves as a result of long strain would prepare the ground for such influence. If there is a current of mutual sympathy between two people, the danger of abuse
The influence increases many times, therefore, when making any important decision, great care should be taken.
CARMA PEOPLE Lesson 221
When the human masses finally realize the truth of the immutable law of Karma, the law of cause and effect, which is the fundamental principle of all forms of government, there will be no more wars of one people against another or revolutions among these peoples. Confidence in retaliation would be so deeply imprinted in the minds of the masses that they would not approve of such actions under any circumstances. If the part of the French people that provoked the French Revolution and carried it out by such bloody methods knew that for every head that flew as a result of its actions into the basket of the guillotine, the life of another Frenchman would be sacrificed when the corresponding point in the same cycle rolled round in the same cycle as it rolled during the recent war with Germany, she would be wary of acting in this way.
Similarly, if the Belgians had learned that the senseless brutality and murder of native Africans by the military at the instigation of King Leopold could have been the first cause of the fate that now befell them, it would have been easier for them to understand what fell to their lot. We cannot prove all this, but if the law of Karma is immutable, it is not difficult to see the validity of such a belief, for we also see that in settling the karmic accounts the English people may have paid the debts they assumed in the mass extermination of the civilian population of East India in another era. Many Americans’ lives can be sacrificed in payment for the lives of Indians previously taken by American soldiers. The end of the cycle during the recent world war, when these karmic debts were incurred, could have created the conditions that the Lords of Karma would use to fulfill the Law.
It is very difficult to reconcile the faith of Christians in the absolution of sins by Christ with the action of the karmic law, but the difficulty will be overcome when a person understands what the founder of Christianity put into the concept of “Forgiveness of sins”. Christ in man can forgive sin against the Spiritual Self, even when the person who is guilty of sin is punished by the law.
It seems obvious that as long as a person believes that he can be forgiven for breaking the Law, he will not make a particularly great effort not to transgress it. It is natural for the lower self to resist the control of the Higher Self.
It is strange that none of the historians with extensive knowledge does not notice the action of the law of Karma, knowing countless examples in the annals of the history of any of the ancient peoples, where the adverse consequences of the causes left by mankind during past centuries are so obvious. As we delve further into sacred and worldly history, we find that, just as day follows night, every unkind act of nation caused by man is followed by some act of forced redemption.
The intervention of a cyclic law may delay the atonement of this action for a time, but in the end it is inevitable. Between the extremes of life, when they are brought into interaction, friction necessarily takes place - heat, energy. This energy is impersonal in itself, and when humanity becomes wise enough to always channel the energy released by friction — usually the result of opposition — into the creative channels, instead of letting it go to ruin and allowing it to be wasted, as it is now so often — enormous progress will be made. For example, when the qualities of Love and Hate come together in human consciousness, as they often do, despite their opposite, there is a friction that can produce a force that can serve the purposes of Love or Hate, of which its creator was not aware before, and, quite likely, so will be paid the long-standing karmic debt.
Observing the karmic consequences resulting from the long-standing upheavals in government, social and religious life, which are becoming so obvious at the present time and revealed by the great war, it is difficult to understand how a thinking person can deny the existence of a karmic law. We should not look too far for the reasons behind the terrible events that have been taking place since 1914.
