THEORY OF CYCLES

In our time, the theory first developed in the world’s oldest religion, the Vedas, further accepted by various Greek philosophers, and defended by the Theosophists of the Middle Ages, but which was subjected to a very primitive denial by the wise men of the West, sharing this fate with many others in this world of continuous denial. Again, contrary to the rules, this is done by people of science. The statistics of the event itself, of a diverse nature, quickly accumulate and correlate with the seriousness that is required in the study of important scientific issues. Statistics of warriors and periods (or cycles) of appearance of great people (at least those who were considered so by their contemporaries, regardless of later opinions); statistics of periods of development and progress in large shopping centers; ups and downs of arts and sciences; cataclysms such as earthquakes and epidemics; periods of extraordinary cold and heat; cycles of revolutions, ups and downs of empires, and so on - all this undergoes its turn. Finally, unexpected attention is drawn to the occult meanings of numbers in personal names, names of cities, events, and the like. On the one hand, a large part of educated people rushes into atheism and skepticism, on the other hand, we find obvious signs that the influx of mysticism into science is increasing. It is a testimony to the indomitable need of mankind, connected with the desire of mankind to convince itself that there is a Higher Power over matter, an occult and mysterious law governing the world, which we must study and observe closely, trying to adapt to it, instead of blindly denying it, smashing our heads against the rocks of fate. Many thinking minds, studying favorable and unfavorable periods in the life of peoples and great empires, were deeply struck by the same feature of their history, namely, the inevitable repetition of similar historical events taking place in turn in each of them at equal intervals. Such an analogy is found between events that are essentially the same, although on the outside they may differ in one or another detail. Thus, the faith of the ancients in their astrologers, fortune-tellers, and prophets could be tested by evaluating the results, many of their most important predictions, whether these predictions presupposed some supernatural properties of their own fortune-tellers and augurs in the times of ancient civilizations occupied the same places that are now occupied by our historians, astronomers, and meteorologists, in so far as the first predictions of empires are not surprising. Since both were, by necessity, keen observers, far removed from the rest of mankind, the pursuit of certain sciences could be pursued as now. Thus, the science of today is likened to the “ancient” science of a thousand years ago. Being free and open, scientific research is now available to everyone, whereas in those days it belonged to only a few. Ancient or modern science, both of which can be called exact; indeed, if the astronomer of today makes his observations by mathematical calculations, the ancient astrologer also justified his predictions by no less insightful and mathematically accurate observations of constantly repeating cycles. And since the secret of this science is now lost, does it give any reason to say that it never existed, or to believe that believing in it, you must be ready to accept the “magic”, “miraculous” and the like? “If, in view of the importance which modern science has attained, the claims to foresee future events should be regarded either as child’s play or as deliberate deception,” says the author of Modern Times, the best daily newspaper of Saint Petersburg in the field of literature and politics, “then one should turn to science, which began to record events in their connection with the past, finding out whether there is a repetition of those events with a certain periodicity; in other words, whether these events are actually repeated at a certain time.” Of course, the latter is true. The author has very good mathematical proof of this in the timely appearance of works such as Dr. E. Zassa, and some others. Recently there have been several scientific works dealing with this mystical subject; we shall now turn to some of them and to the calculations given in them, and we do so all the more willingly, since in most cases they belong to men of outstanding knowledge. Since Dr. Blovitz's article "The Meaning of the Number Seven" has already been reported * In the case of different nations and peoples, a scientific article that appeared recently in a German journal, we now summarize in general all the opinions expressed in the press regarding the more problematic work of the well-known German scientist E. Zassa, as well as our own thoughts on this matter. His work has just appeared in the Prussian Statistical Journal; it very seriously confirms the ancient theory of cycles. These periods, which change the direction of the repeating event, begin with infinitesimal, for example, ten-year, alternations, and reach cycles of duration; 250, 500, 700 and 1000 And they will be in a state of perpetual motion, one after another. All of them are contained within the Mahayuga, the “Great Age,” or cycle of Manu calculus, which itself revolves between two eternities — called “Pralaya” or “Brahma’s Night.” Since in the objective world of matter, or in the system of effects, small cosmic bodies and planets attract each other, and all are attracted together to the Sun, so in the world of the subjective, or in the system of causes, these infinite cycles are situated between what the finite intellect of the ordinary mortal regards as eternity, and what the deeper (though still finite) intuition of the sage and the philosopher sees as eternal. "As above, so below" - says the ancient Hermetic maxim. As an experiment in this direction, p. Sass chose a statistical study of all the warriors whose occurrence was noted in history, a subject that is easier to subject to scientific verification than anything else. To illustrate his subject in the simplest and most easily perceived way, Dr. Zass presents periods of warriors and periods of "peace in the form of small and large waves running through the space of the ancient world. This idea is not new, for this image has been used for similar illustrations by many ancient and medieval mystics, in words or drawings, for example, by Heinrich Kunrat. However, it serves its purpose well and provides us with the necessary facts. Before moving on to the cyclicality of warriors, the author gives data on the rise and decline of the great world empires, noting the role they played in world history. He notes the fact that if we divide the map of the ancient world into five parts - East, Central and Western Asia, Eastern and Western Europe, and Egypt - then we can easily see that a huge wave passes over these areas through each 250 years, bringing to each of them the same events that were brought to its previous arrival. We may call this wave the "historical Wave" of the two-hundred-and-fifty-year cycle. We invite the reader to follow this mystical number.

The first of these waves took place in China in 2000 years BC, in the "golden age" of this empire, the age of philosophy, discoveries and reforms. In 1750 the Mongols of Central Asia formed a powerful empire. In 1500 Egypt rises from its temporary decline and spreads its influence to many parts of Europe and Asia; about 1250 the historical wave reaches and crosses Eastern Europe, and fills these countries with the spirit of the Argonauts' journey; it fades away in 1000 BC along with the siege of Troy.

The second historical wave appears around the same time in central Asia. "The Scythians leave their steppes and by 750 BC flood the surrounding countries, heading south and west, in Western Asia around 500 begins the era of the heyday of ancient Persia; and this wave moves; to the east of Europe, where about 250. Greece reaches the highest level of its culture and civilization, and even further to the west, where the moment of Christ’s birth the Roman Empire finds itself at the height of its strength and greatness.

And during this period we are witnessing the rise of the third historical wave in the Far East. After long revolutions, China once again forms a powerful empire, and art, science, and commerce once again achieve prosperity here. Via 250 For years we have been discovering Huns emerging from the depths of central Asia 500 A new and powerful Persian kingdom is being formed in our era 750 The Byzantine Empire was established in Eastern Europe; and 1000 The second Roman power, the Empire of the Papacy, is emerging in the western part of the empire, which quickly achieves exceptional wealth and splendor.

At the same time, the fourth wave approaches from the East; the wave. China is thriving again; in 1250, the Mongol Wave spills out of central Asia and covers vast areas, including Russia. Around 1500, the Ottoman Empire, which conquers the Balkan Peninsula, grows in all its might in Western Asia; but at the same time in Eastern Europe, Russia drops the Tatar yoke, and in about 1750 during the reign of Empress Catherine reaches unexpected greatness and covers itself with glory. The wave is relentlessly moving further west, and since the middle of the last century, Europe has been experiencing an era of revolutions and reforms; as the author says, "if it is permissible to make prophecies, then around 2000, Western Europe will be in one of those periods of culture and progress that are so rare in history." The Russian press, taking note of this hint, believes that "at this time the Eastern question will be finally resolved, all national differences of European peoples will come to an end, and the beginning of the new millennium will witness the destruction of the armies and alliance between all European empires." Signs of revival are rapidly emerging in Japan and China, as if pointing to the approach of a new historical wave from the Far East.

If we go from a cycle of two and a half centuries to cycles that leave their mark on each century, and group together the events of ancient history, consider the development and growth of empires, then we will see that starting with 700 In the year before our era, the wave duration 100 years moved forward, bringing prosperity to the following peoples - Assyrians, Medes, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Macedonians, Carthaginians, Romans and Germans.

The striking frequency of wars in Europe has also been noticed by Dr. Zass. Starting with 1700 Every ten years there was either a war or a revolution. Periods of increasing and weakening of military hysteria among the European peoples represent a wave, exclude the regular in its periodicity and the current incessantly, as if it were launched in accordance with some invisible law. The same mystical law seems to lead to the coincidence of phenomena with an astronomical wave or cycle, which are accompanied by a very noticeable appearance of spots in the sun. The periods when European forces detected the most destructive energy are marked with a cycle of duration 50 years. It would be a very long and tedious task to list them all from the very beginning of history. Therefore, we can limit our study to only a cycle beginning with 1712 In the same year, all European nations fought simultaneously the Northern and Turkish Wars, a warrior for the throne in Spain. Approximately in 1761 Seven Years, Warrior; in 1810 the Napoleonic Wars 1. K 1861 The wave slightly deviated from the regular course, but, as if to compensate for this, or perhaps as a reflection of some unusual forces, it was the years immediately preceding this or following it that left in history memories of the most fierce and bloody warriors - the Crimean War (in this first period) and the civil war in America (in the second period).

The frequency of wars between Russia and Turkey seems to be extremely surprising and represents a very characteristic wave. At the beginning, the intervals between cycles are very constant and amount to thirty years 1710, 1740, 1770 - then these intervals are reduced, and we have a twenty-year cycle - 1790, 1810; 1829-1830; These intervals are expanding again 1853,1878. But if we determine the full duration of the phase of growth of this wave, then in the center of this period from 1768 by 1812 years - we get three warriors, lasting seven years each, and at the beginning and end of this period two-year warriors.

In the end, the author concludes that in the light of these facts it is absolutely impossible to deny the presence of regular periods in the degree of severity of mental and physical forces in different peoples of the world. He proves that in the history of all peoples and empires of the Ancient World the most important were the cycles with millennial and centenary periods, as well as with periods of shorter duration (50 and 10 years), since they all left behind more or less vivid events in the history of the people brought with these historical waves.

Compared with that of other countries, India’s history is the least clear. However, if its great events were described in sequence and its annals thoroughly studied, a cyclical law would be found here too, convincing everyone that it operates in every country in such phenomena as wars, periods of famine, political crises and so on.

In France, one Parisian meteorologist collected statistics on the coldest seasons and found that the coldest winters were those years in which the figure was different9". Its data are as follows: in 859 In the year B.C. the northern part of the Adriatic Sea was frozen and covered with ice for three months. V 1179 The ground was covered with several feet of snow even in very temperate climates. V 1209 In France, deep snow and extreme cold led to such a plight with fodder that most of the cattle died here.

V 1249 Mr. The Baltic Sea near Russia, Norway, and Sweden remained under the ice for many months, and communication was maintained with the help of sled Transport. V 1339 In England there was such a terrible winter that the masses of the people died of cold and hunger. V 14091 The Danube River was frozen from its source to the place of confluence into the Black Sea. V 1469 All the vineyards and orchards were destroyed by frost. V 1609 In France, Switzerland and northern Italy, people had to thaw bread and other provisions before eating. V 1639 The port of Marseille was covered with ice at a great distance. V 1659 All the rivers in Italy were frozen 1699 France and Italy had the harshest and longest winter ever recorded. Food prices have risen so much that half the population has died of hunger. V 1709 Winter was no less terrible. In France, Italy and Switzerland, the soil was frozen to a depth of several feet, and the sea, both in the north and in the south, was covered with a dense layer of ice several feet thick, not only at the shore, but also in open space several miles long. Many wild animals, driven out of the forest by cold, sought refuge in villages and even cities, and dead birds fell to the ground in hundreds. V 1729, 1749 and 1769 Years (cycle c 20 During the summer period) all the rivers and water bodies were frozen in France for many weeks, and all the fruit trees died. V 1789 The winter has visited France again. In Paris, the thermometer 19 degrees below zero. But the harshest winter came 1829 Mr. During 54 All roads in France were covered with snow several feet thick, and all rivers froze. That year, hunger and poverty reached their highest point in the country. V 1839 In France, there was once again an exceptionally cold winter. And this year (1879) winter again claimed its statistical rights and proved that the figure "9" is indeed fatal. We would like to invite meteorologists from other countries to follow this example and conduct similar studies, because this issue is extremely interesting, and at the same time very important in terms of cognition.

Obviously, the above is enough to prove that Pythagoras’ ideas about the mysterious influence of numbers, as well as the theories of ancient world religions and philosophies, are not flat and meaningless, as some overly free-thinking progressives would like to assure.

CYCLES AND AVATURES

We have already noticed the facts that the record of the Savior’s life is emblematic and should be read in its mystical meaning, and that the figures 432 have cosmic evolutionary significance. We find that these two facts shed light on the origin of the exoteric Christian religion and clarify much of the darkness that surrounds its beginning. For, is it not clear that names and figures in the Synoptic Gospels and in the Gospel of St. Is John not historical? Is it not obvious that the writers of the description of Christ's life, wishing to show that the birth of their Master was a cosmic, astronomical, and prophetic-predestinated event, tried to reconcile it with the end of the innermost cycle, 4320? When the facts are collated in detail, this corresponds to them as little as another cycle of “thirty-three solar years, seven months, and seven days,” which was also put forward as confirmation of the same claim, the solar-lunar cycle, in which the Sun at the expense of the Moon wins one solar year. The combination of these three numbers, 4, 3, 2, with the numbers according to the corresponding cycle and Manvantara, was and is predominantly Hindu. It will remain a mystery, even though some of its significant features have been revealed. It refers, for example, to the Pralaya races in their periodic dissolution, before which a special Avatar must always descend and incarnate on earth. These numbers were assimilated by all ancient peoples, such as the peoples of Egypt and the Chaldeans, and before them were in use among the Atlanteans. Evidently some of the more learned among the early Church Fathers, who, while still pagans, were digging into the mysteries of the temples, knew that these figures were related to the Avataric or Messianic Mystery and tried to apply this cycle to the birth of their Messiah; this they failed to do, as these figures relate to the corresponding completions of the Root-Races, not to a particular individual. In addition, there was a five-year error in their ill-directed efforts. Is it possible, if their claim to the importance and universality of this event was correct, that such a substantial error should be allowed to creep into the chronological calculus predestined by God himself and inscribed with his finger in heaven? And what would Gentiles and even Jewish Initiates do if these claims about Jesus were true? Could they, the keepers of the key to the secret cycles and the Avatars, the heirs of all Aryan, Egyptian and Chaldean wisdom, not recognize their great “Incarnate God,” one with Jehovah, their Savior of the last days, whom all the peoples of Asia still await, as their Kalki the Avatar, Maitreya Buddha, Sosios, Messiah, etc.?

The simple secret is this: there are cycles within larger cycles, and all of them are contained in one Calpe of 4 320 000 years. It is at the end of this cycle that Kalki the Avatar is expected, whose name and characteristics are a secret; It will appear from Shambhala, the “City of Gods,” which for some peoples is in the west, for others in the east, and for others in the north or south. And this is the reason why, from the Indian Rishis to Virgil, from Zoroaster to the very last Sibylla, everyone, from the beginning of the Fifth Race, has prophesied, sung and promised the cyclical return of the Virgin - the constellation of the Virgin - and the birth of a divine child who should return to our land the Golden Age.

No one, no matter how fanatical, has the impudence to claim that the Christian era has restored the Golden Age to people - since then the Virgin has actually entered the Libra. Let us trace, as briefly as possible, Christian traditions to their true source.

First of all, they reveal in a few lines of Virgil a direct prophecy about the birth of Christ. However, it is impossible to find any features of this century in this prophecy. In the famous fourth eclogue, half a century before our era. Pollio asks the Muses of Sicily to sing to him about the great events.

Now the last era of the song of Kumean has come, and the great series of centuries (the series that repeats itself over and over in the course of our world rotation) begins again. The Virgin of the Stars returns and the kingdom of Saturn resumes. Now a new offspring descends from the celestial spheres. Cheerful Lucina, smile favorably to the baby boy who will bring to an end the current Age of Iron and establish the Age of Gold around the world. He will share the life of the Gods and see the heroes revolving in the company of the Gods, and he himself will be seen by them and by the whole peace-loving world. Then the herds will no longer have to fear the huge lion, the snake will also die, and the deceptive poison plant will die. Come, dear child of the Gods, great descendant of Jupiter! This time is near. See, the earth shakes, with its ball greeting you - both land and sea, and the majestic heavens.

It is in these few lines, called the “Syvilline prophecy of the coming of Christ” that his followers now see a direct prediction of this event. Now who would dare to say that since the birth of Christ or the establishment of the so-called Christian religion any part of the above quotation can be represented as prophetic? “The Last Age” — the Iron Age, or Kali Yuga — has it ended since then? Quite the contrary, for it is now manifesting itself in full force, not only because the Hindus use this name, but because of universal personal experience. Where is the “new race that has descended from the celestial spheres”? Was it the race that came out of Paganism and converted to Christianity? Or is it our present race with nations, always red-hot, to fight, jealous and envious, ready to rush at each other, showing such mutual hatred, from which dogs and cats would blush with shame, nations always lying and deceiving each other? Is our age the promised “Golden Age” in which no snake venom or plant is deadly anymore, and where we all live in security under the gentle rule of God’s chosen rulers? The wildest fantasy of the opium swallower is hardly capable of producing a more inappropriate description if it is to be applied to our own, or even to any age since the first year of our era. What about the mutual slaughter between sects, Christians - pagans, and pagans and heretics - Christians; the horrors of the Middle Ages and the Inquisition; At best, and at worst, streams of blood spilled over the acres of land and a handful of pagans; millions of soldiers under arms ready for battle; a diplomatic corps playing Cain and Judah; and, instead of the "favorable power of the divine ruler," the universal, though unrecognized power of Caesarism, the "forces" instead of the "powers" of the socialists?

As we can see, the Sibylline prophecy and Virgil’s inspirational poetry remain unfulfilled in every respect.

The fields turn yellow with ripe corn ears;

But they were also before our era:

And the red bunches of grapes will hang from the heap of blackberries, and the honey dew will be ooze from the rough oak.

but it hasn't happened yet. We should look for another interpretation. What's it like? The Sibylline prophetess spoke, as thousands of other prophets and seers have said, though even those few records that have survived are rejected by Christians and unbelievers, and their interpretations are allowed and accepted only among Initiates. Sibyl hinted at cycles in general and the great cycle in particular. Let us recall how the Puranas confirm the above, and among others - "Vishnu Purana":

When the established orders taught by the Vedas and the Institutions of the Laws are almost gone, and the end of Kali Yuga ("Iron Age" of Virgil) is near, an aspect of that divine Being which exists by virtue of its own spiritual nature in the character of Brahma, and is even the beginning and end (Alpha and Omega), ... will come to earth; it will be born into the family of Vishnu, the Ombra. By his irresistible power he will destroy... all whose minds are devoted to enmity. He will then restore righteousness to the earth, and the minds of those who will live at the end of the age will awaken and become as clear as crystal. The people who will be so transformed by virtue of that special time will be the seeds of human beings (Shista, who are left alive after the future cataclysm) and will give birth to a race that will follow the laws of Crete (or Satia) Yuga (the age of purity, or “Golden Age”). “When the sun and the moon and the calm and the planet Jupiter are in the same house, then the age of Crete (golden) will return.

The astronomical cycles of the Hindus, those taught publicly, were well understood, but their esoteric significance and their application to transcendental objects connected with them was always only a dead letter. The number of cycles was enormous; it extended from the Maha Yuga cycle to the 4 320 000 The last consisted of five years, called Samvatsar, Parivatsar, Idvatsar, Anuvatsar, and Watsar respectively; each possessed secret attributes or properties attached to them. Vridhagarga gives their description in a treatise which is now the property of one Trans-Himalayan Matham (or temple); it describes the connection between this five-year and Brihaspati cycle, based on the combination of the Sun and the Moon in every sixtieth year: a cycle as mysterious as it is significant for national events in general and for the Aryan people of the Hindus in particular.

CONTROL CYCLES

The five-year cycle comprises sixty solar-star months of 1800 days, sixty-one solar months (or 1830 days); sixty-two lunar months (or 1860 lunations), and sixty-seven lunar-asterismic months (or 1809 such days).

In his Cara Sancalita, Colonel Warren rightly regards these years as cycles; for they are, for each year has a special significance as having a connection and relation to particular events in individual horoscopes. He writes that in the cycle of sixty

It contains five cycles of twelve years, and it is believed that each is equal to one year of the planet (Brihaspati, or Jupiter). I mention this cycle because I have found it mentioned in some books, but I do not know of a people or a tribe that would run a chronology on it.

This ignorance is quite understandable, as Colonel Warren could not know anything about the secret cycles and their meanings. He adds:

The names of the five cycles, or South, are as follows: (1) Samvatsara (2) Parivatsara, (3) Idvatsara, (4) Anuvatsara, (5) Udravatsara.

However, the learned colonel could have been convinced that there were “other nations” who had had the same secret cycle if he had only remembered that the Romans too had had their lustrum of five years (certainly from the Hindus), which, when multiplied by 12, formed the same period. Near Benares there are still the remains of all these captured cycles and astronomical instruments carved out of the monolithic rock - the eternal records of the Archaic Initiation, called Sir W. Jones (on the advice of the cautious brahmins around him) with old “records of the past,” or calculations. But in Stonehenge they exist to this day. Higgins says that Walter discovered mounds of mounds surrounding this giant temple, representing the location and magnitude of fixed stars, forming a complete planetarium, or planisphere. As Colbrook found, the cycle of Vedas recorded in the Jyotisha, in one of the Vedant treatises on Astronomy, is the basis for the calculation of all other cycles, large or small; and the Vedas were written, albeit very ancient, but still long after these natural observations, made with the help of giant mathematical and astronomical instruments by people of the Third Race, who received Diganas from them. Maurice is right when he notices that everyone is like that.

Round stone monuments were intended as long-term symbols of astronomical cycles by a race that, without or for political reasons, did not allow the use of letters, did not have another sustainable way of teaching its students or transmitting its knowledge to posterity.

He's only wrong about the last idea. Such monuments, simultaneously constituting observatories and astronomical treatises, were carved to hide their knowledge from the uninitiated offspring, preserving them as a heritage only for the Initiates.

It is no news that just as the Hindus divided the earth into seven zones, so did the more Western nations — the Chaldeans, the Phoenicians, and even the Jews, who received their learning either directly or indirectly from the Brahmins — make their innermost and sacred calculations on the earth 6 and 12, Although they used a number of 7 Every time it couldn't lead to clarity. Therefore, the numerical base 6, The exoteric figure given by Arya Bhatta was used well. Since the first hidden cycle in 600 – Naros, who was successively transformed into 60 000 and 60, and 6, and, with other zeros added to other innermost cycles - down to the smallest ones - the archaeologist and mathematician will easily find them repeated in every country known to all nations. That's why the ball was divided into 60 degrees, which are multiplied by 60, Steel 3600, “The Great Year.” From here and an hour with him 60 minutes on 60 seconds each. Asian countries also have a cycle of 60 years after which comes a happy seventh decade; and the Chinese have their own small cycle of 60 The Jews of 6 The Greeks from 6 Centuries - again Naros.

The Babylonians had a great year 3600, That is, Naros multiplied by 6. The Tatar cycle, called the Van, consisted of 180 three or sixty years; this is multiplied by 12 the National Park 12 = 144, will be 25 920 years, the exact period of the turn of the heavens.

India is the birthplace of arithmetic and mathematics, as prof. Max Muller in Our Numbers in Chips from a German Workshop. How well explained by Krishna Shastri Godball in The Theosophist:

The Jews … represented units (1–9) by the first nine letters of our alphabet; tens (1–90) by the next nine letters; the first four hundreds (100–400) by the last four letters; and the remaining hundreds (500–900) by the second forms of “kaf” (11th), “mim” (13th), “num” (14th), “pe” (17th) and “sad” (18th). They represented other numbers by combining these letters according to their values. … Jews of the present period still use this notation in their Hebrew books. The Greeks had a numerical system similar to that of the Jews, but developed it further by using letters with a stroke or slanting line after them to represent thousands (1000–9000), tens of thousands (10 000–90 000) and a hundred thousand (100 000). The last, for example, was represented by “rho” with a stroke after it, while “rho” alone represented 100. The Romans represented all numerical values by combinations—addition when the second sign had an equal or smaller value—of six letters of their alphabet: I (=1), V (=5), X (=10), L (=50), C (since “centum” = 100), D (=500) and M (=1000). Thus, 20 = XX, 15 = XV and 9 = IX. These are called Roman numerals and have been adopted by all European peoples using the Roman alphabet. The Arabs initially followed their Jewish neighbours’ method of calculation so closely that they called it Abjad, after the first four Hebrew letters: “alif”, “beth”, “gimel” or, rather, “jimel”, that is, “jim” (Arabic lacks “g”), and “daleth”, representing the first four units. But when they came to India as traders early in the Christian era, they found that the country already used a decimal numeral system for calculation. They adopted it intact, without changing its left-to-right writing direction, although their own script ran from right to left. Through Spain and other Mediterranean countries under their rule, the Arabs introduced this system into Europe during the dark ages of European history. It thus becomes evident that the Aryans knew mathematics, or the science of calculation, well at a time when all other peoples knew very little, if anything, about it. It is also acknowledged that the Arabs first borrowed arithmetic and algebra from the Hindus and then transmitted them to Western peoples. This fact convincingly proves that Aryan civilisation is older than that of any other people in the world. Since the Vedas are undoubtedly the oldest works of that civilisation, this supports the supposition of their great antiquity.

But while, for example, the Jewish people — long regarded as the oldest in the order of creation — knew nothing about arithmetic and remained completely ignorant of the decimal system of calculation, the latter existed in India centuries before this era.

In order to verify the gray antiquity of the Aryan Asian peoples and their astronomical records, it is necessary to explore more than just the Vedas. The secret significance of the latter will never be understood by the present generations of Orientalists, and those works on astronomy, in which the real dates and proofs of the antiquity of both the people and its science are given, escape the grasp of the collectors of the Alles and the ancient manuscripts of India, the reason being too obvious to need explanation. Yet, to this day, there are astronomers and mathematicians in India, modest sastras and pandits, unknown and lost in this population, possessing phenomenal memory and metaphysical abilities, who have taken up this task and proved, to the surprise of many, that the Vedas are the oldest works in the world. One of these is the just-quoted Shastri, who published in The Theosophist a talented treatise astronomically and mathematically proving that:

If only the post-Vedic works: Upanishads, Brahmans, etc., up to Puranas, in the critical study of them lead us to 20 000 years ago B.C. X., then the time of creation of the Vedas themselves cannot be less than 30 000 years B.C. X., to put it in rounded numbers; this will be the date we can now take for this Book of Books.

What's his evidence?

Cycles and evidence provided by asterisms. Here are a few excerpts from his rather extended treatise, selected to give an idea of his evidence, and directly related to the five-year cycle that has just been talked about. Those who are interested in this evidence and are good mathematicians, let them refer to this very article “The Antiquity of the Vedas” and let them judge for themselves;

1. Somakara, in his comments on Shesha Jyotisha, quotes from the Satapatha Brahmana, which contains an observation of the shifting of the tropics, which is also found in the Sakhayana Brahmana, as Prof. Max Muller in his preface to the Rigveda Samhita (p. XX, note, vol. Here is the quote:... The night of the full moon at Falgun is the first night of Samvatsara, the first year of the five-year period. This quote clearly shows that the five-year period, which according to the sixth verse of “Jyotishi”, begins 1Magha - number (January-February), Once it began 15Falguna (February-March). So, when 15The number of the first year of Falguna, called Samvatsara, begins, the Moon, according to Jyotish, is in the period of five years

95/124- Who?  or 3/4- by Uttar Falguna, and

the Sun  33/124- Who?  or 1/4- Go Purva Bhadrapada.

Consequently, the four main points on the ecliptic were as follows:

Winter Solstice at 3 to 29' Purva Bhadrapada.

Spring equinox at the beginning of Mrigashirshi.

Summer Solstice at 10 Purva Falguna.

The autumnal equinox in the middle of Jyoshthi.

As we have seen, the vernal equinox point coincided with the beginning of Criticism in 1421 Mr. R. H.: and from the beginning of Criticism to the beginning of Mrigashirshi, as a result, was 1421 + 26⅔ × 72 = 1421 + 1920 = 3341 to R. C. Precession was 50per year. When we take that norm was 3°20the " World Cup " 247 years, the time will be 1516+1960°7' = 3476°7' to R. X.

When the winter solstice with its retrograde movement coincided with the beginning of Purva Bhadrapada, then the beginning of the five-year period was changed from 15- on 1Falguna's number (February-March). This change has occurred 240 years after the date of the above-mentioned observation, that is 3101 Mr. R. H. This date is very important, since it was subsequently kept the account of the era. The beginning of Kali, or Kali Yugi (derived from "cal", "to count", although Jewish scholars call it fiction, thus becomes an astronomical fact.

CRITICAL AND ASHVINI COURSE

Thus we see that the asterisms, twenty-seven in number, were counted from Mrigashirsha when the vernal equinox was at its beginning, and that this method of counting continued until the vernal equinox had receded to the beginning of Krittika, which then became the first of the asterisms. By then, the winter solstice had shifted back from Phalguna (February–March) to Magha (January–February) by an entire lunar month. Likewise, Ashvini took Krittika's place: it became the first of the asterisms, heading all the others, when its beginning coincided with the vernal equinoctial point, or, in other words, when the winter solstice was in Nansha (December–February). From the beginning of Krittika to the beginning of Ashvini there are therefore two asterisms, or 26⅔. The time required for the equinox to recede over this distance, at a rate of 1 every 72 years, is 1920 years; consequently, the date when the vernal equinox coincided with the beginning of Ashvini or the end of Revati is 1920–1421=499 AD.

BENTLEY'S OPINION

2. The next and equally important observation which we have to record here is that discussed by Mr. Bentley in his studies of Indian antiquities, "The first lunar asterism," he says, "was called the Mula, that is, the root, or source, when divided into twenty-eight. When divided into twenty-seven, the first lunar asterism was called Jyoshtha, that is, the oldest or first, and therefore was of the same importance as the first" (see his "Historical View of the Hindu Astronomy, p. 4). It is clear from this that the vernal equinox once was at the beginning of Mula, and Mula was considered the first asterism when there were twenty-eight numbers, including Abhijit. There are fourteen asterisms, or 180From the beginning of Mrigashirshi to the beginning of Mula, and therefore the date on which the vernal equinox coincided with the beginning of Mula, there was at least 3341+180.72 = 16 301 Mr. R. X. The location of the four main points on the ecliptic was then as follows:

Winter solstice at the beginning of Uttar Falguna, in the month of Shravana.

The spring equinox at the beginning of Mula in Karttika.

Summer solstice at the beginning of Purva Bhadrapada in Magha.

The autumnal equinox at the beginning of Mrigashirshi in Bayshakha.

PROOF FROM BHAGAVAD GITHA

3. The Bhagavad Gita, like the Bhagavata, mentions one observation which points to an even greater antiquity than that discovered by Mr. Bentley. The following passages are given in order:

“I am Margashirsha (i.e. the first of the months) and spring (i.e. the first of the seasons).”

This shows that at one time the first month of spring was Margashire. The time of year is two months, and the mention of the month implies the time of year.

“I am Samvatsara among the years (which are five in number) and spring among the seasons, and Margashirsha among the months, and Abhijit among the asterisms (which are twenty-eight in number).”

This clearly indicates that once in the first year, called Samvatsara, the five-year period, Madhu, i.e. the first month of spring, was Margashirsha, and Abhijit was the first of the asterisms. It then coincided with the spring equinox point, and, therefore, from it began the account of asterisms. To find the date of this observation: from the beginning of the Mule to the beginning of the Abhijit three asterisms, and therefore the date in question is at least. 16 301+3/7C90C72 = 19 078 356] or about 20 000 Years before R. H. Then Samvatsara began in Bhadrapada, the month of the winter solstice.

So 20 000 The ancient Vedas have been mathematically proven. And it's just exoteric. Any mathematician, as long as he is not blinded by prejudices and preconceived opinions, can be convinced of this, and one unknown, but very intelligent amateur astronomer C. A. McKee proved it about sixty years ago.

His theory of the Hindu South and its duration is curious, as it is very close to the correct doctrine.

In Asiatic Researches, Volume II, p. 131, it is said that "The great ancestor of Yudhishtera reigned 27 000 years ... at the end of the Bronze Age." In Volume II on page 364 we read:

"In the beginning of Kali Yuga, during the reign of Yudhishtera. And Yudhishter ... began his reign immediately after the flood called Pralaya.”

Here we find three different accounts concerning the Yudhishters... to elucidate these seeming discrepancies we must resort to their scientific books, where we find that the heavens and the earth are divided into five parts of uneven dimensions, separated by circles parallel to the equator. These divisions should be given the greatest attention ... for it will be found that from them arose the division of their Maha Yuga into its four constituent parts. Every astronomer knows that there is a point in the sky called the pole around which everything seems to rotate for twenty-four hours, and that ninety degrees from it they imagine a circle called the equator, which divides the sky and the earth into two equal parts, north and south. Between this circle and the pole there is another imaginary circle, called the circle of constant visibility, between which and the equator there is a point in the sky called Zenith, through which let another imaginary circle parallel to the other two be passed, and after that only the circle of constant concealment is missing to complete the circle. No astronomer in Europe, except me, has ever used them to process the innermost numbers of Hindus. In the Asiatic Studies we are told that Yudhishter placed Vikramaditya to reign in Kassimira, which is at latitude 36 Degrees. And at this latitude, the circle of constant visibility would extend upward to a height of 72 degrees, and from there to the zenith only 18 degrees, but from zenith to equator at that latitude 36 degrees, and from the equator to the circle of constant concealment 54 Degrees. Here we find the semicircle in 180 divided into four parts in proportion, 1, 2, 3, 4, i.e. 18, 36, 54, 72. Whether the Hindu astronomers were aware of the motion of the earth or not is irrelevant, since the external aspects are the same; and if it can give any pleasure to gentlemen with sensitive consciousness, I am ready to admit that they imagined the heavens revolving around the earth, but they noticed that the stars of the solar path move forward through the equinoxes at a speed of fifty-four seconds from the degree of the year that carried the whole Zodiac 24 000 years; at the same time, they noted that the inclination of the ecliptic changed so much that it extended or compressed the width of the tropics 4 The degree on each side, which the rate of motion was to move the tropics from the equator to the poles through the 540 000 At this time, the Zodiac would make twenty-two and a half turns, which are expressed by parallel circles from the equator to the poles ... or, which leads to the same thing, the north pole of the ecliptic would move from the north pole of the Earth to the equator. Thus, the poles exchange places during 1 080 000 years, that is their Maha Yuga, which they divided into four unequal parts in proportions 1, 2, 3, 4 For the above reasons, which is 108 000, 216 000, 324 000 and 432 000. Here is the most positive evidence that the above numbers are derived from ancient astronomical observations and therefore do not deserve the epithets that the essayists awarded them, repeating, like an echo, the voices of Bentley, Wilford, Dupy, etc.

Now I have to prove that 27 000Yudhishter's summer reign is neither absurd nor outrageous, but most likely the essayist is unaware that there were several Yudhishter, or Judhishter. In Asian Studies, Volume II, p. 131, It is said, "The great ancestor of Yudhishter reigned 27 000 "The End of the Bronze Age or the Third Century." Again, I have to ask you to pay attention to this place. This is the plane of the mechanism which the second gentleman thought so clumsy; it is the mechanism of the oblong spheroid called the ancient atroscope. Let the longest axis represent the poles of the Earth, forming an angle in the 28 seven divisions above the horizon towards the North Pole, the temple of Buddha, and seven from the North Pole to the circle of constant visibility represent fourteen Manvantaric or very long periods of time, each of which, according to the third volume of the "Asian Studies", represents a. 258 or 259, The reign of one man. But Captain Wilford, in Volume V, p. 243, The Egyptians had fourteen dynasties; the Hindus had fourteen dynasties whose rulers are called Menu.

Who here can err in taking fourteen very long periods of time for those which made up the Kali Yuga-Delhi or any other place at latitude 28 degrees, where the empty space from the foot of Meru to the seventh circumference from the equator is the part through which the tropics will traverse in the next period; what proportions are largely different from the proportions at latitude 36 degrees; and how the book differs little from them, because the numbers are small degrees; But, on the contrary, it proves with what accuracy the Hindus observed celestial movements at different latitudes.

Some Hindus report that “the earth has two axes, which are surrounded by seven tiers of heavens and hells, each at a distance of one Raju.” There is little explanation here if it is understood that the seven divisions from the equator to the zenith are called Rishis, or Rashs. But most of all for our purpose it is necessary to know that the Hindus gave a name to each division, through which the tropics passed during each turn of the Zodiac. At latitude 36 degrees, where Pole, or Meru, was at the height of nine steps in Kassimere, they were called Shastram; at latitude 28 degrees in Delhi, where Pole, or Meru, was at the height of seven steps, they were called Menu; but at 24 degrees, in Kach, where Pole, or Meru, was only at the height of six. But in the ninth volume ("Asian Studies"), Yudhishter, son of Dherma, or Justice, was the first of the six Shaks; this name means the end, and since everything has two ends, Yudhishter is as related to the first as to the last. And since the separation in the north of the circle of constant visibility is the first Kali Yugi, believing that the tropics ascend, it was called the separation or reign of Yudhishtera. But the division which immediately precedes the circle of constant visibility is the last of the third, or Bronze Age, and was therefore called Yudhishter, and since his reign preceded the reign of another, when the tropic ascended to Pole, or Meru, he was called the father of another - he was "the great ancestor of Yudhishter, who reigned twenty-seven thousand years at the end of the Bronze Age." II).

The ancient Hindus by observation found that the Zodiac goes forward at a speed of about fifty-four seconds a year, and to avoid large fractions, stopped at this, which will be a full circle in the universe 24 000 years, and observing that the angle of the poles changes almost to 4 These three numbers, as such, would give forty-five circles of the Zodiac half a turn of the poles; but, finding that forty-five circles would not cause the northern tropic to coincide with the circumference of constant visibility by thirty minutes of one degree, which would require the Zodiac to advance by one and a half sign, which, as we all know, it could not accomplish less than 3000 years - in this case, they were added to the end of the Bronze Age. which lengthened the reign of that Yudhishtera to 27 000 years instead of 24 000, But on another occasion, they didn't change the regular order 24 000 The years of the reign of each of these long-lived monarchs, but rounded the time, allowing the regency to last three or four thousand years. In Asian Studies, Volume II, p. 134, We are told that: "The Parikshit, the great nephew and heir of Yudhishter is allowed to reign unquestionably between the Bronze and the Earthly, or Kali, ages, and to die at the onset of Kali Yuga." Here we find the interregnum at the end of the Bronze Age and before the Kali Yuga; and since there can be only one bronze, or the Third of the South, i.e. the third century and the Maha Yuga of the South, there is no such thing as a third century 1 080 000 The years before the reign of this Parikshit must have been in the second Maha Yuga, when the pole had already returned to its original position, which should have been required 2 160 000 years; and this is what the Hindus call the Prajanatha of the South. A similar custom has some more modern peoples who, being adherents of even numbers, divide an ordinary year into 12 Months of 30 Each day, and five days and an odd measure, is represented as the reign of a little snake biting its tail, and divided into five parts, etc.

But, "Yudhishter began his reign immediately after the flood called Pralaya," i.e., at the end of the Kali Yuga, (or the age of heat), when the tropic passed from the pole to the other side of the circle of constant visibility, which coincides with the northern horizon; here the tropics or summer solstice will again be in the same parallel of the northern deviation, at the beginning of their first century, as it was at the end of their third century.

Suffice it to say that the scientific books of the Hindus are not hideous absurdities, the products of ignorance, vanity, and credulity, but are books containing the most profound knowledge of astronomy and geography.

What could induce the sensitive gentlemen to insist that Yudhishter was a real mortal man, I do not know; except that it was their fear for the fate of Jared and his grandfather Methuselah?

TWO ASTRONOMS TO FLOW TIMES

For the Oriental researcher, the two figures are inextricably linked with mystical astronomy, chronology and their cycles. Two majestic and mysterious figures, rising like two giants in the Archaic Past, stand before him every time he is forced to turn to the South or Kalpas. When, in what prehistoric period they lived, no one except a few people, does not know, or even ever will be able to know, with the certainty that requires accurate chronology. It could have been 100,000 Years ago, it could be 1,000,000 Years ago: that’s all the outside world will ever know. The mystical West and Freemasonry talk loudly about Enoch and Hermes. The mystical East speaks of Narada, the ancient Vedic Rishi, and of Asuramaya, Atlanta.

It has already been hinted that of all the inexplicable characters in the Mahabharata and the Puranas, it is Narada, son of Brahma in Matsya Purana, descendant of Kashyapa and daughter of Daksha in Vishnu Purana, who is the most mysterious. Parashara, referring to him, gives him the honorary title of Deva-Rishi (or rather the true Rishi by the Divine than by the Half-God) and, nevertheless, he is cursed by Daksha and even Brahma: He informs Kansha that Bhagavan or Vishnu in exotericism, will incarnate as Devaka's eighth child, and thus he will bring down the wrath of the Hindu Herod. Narada is here, there, and everywhere; and yet none of the Puranas gives the true characterization of this great enemy of physical generation. Whatever these characteristics may be in Hindu Esotericism, Narada — who in Pre-Himalayan Occultism is called Pesh-Hun, the “Herald”, or Greek Angelos — is the sole trustee and executor of the universal decrees of Karma and Adi-Budha; it is a kind of active and ever-incarnating Logos, which leads and guides human affairs from the very beginning to the end.

Pesh Hun is a common heritage, not exclusively Hindu. It is a mysterious, controlling, intelligent power that gives impetus to Cycles, Kalpas and world events and balances their movement. He is the visible equalizer of Karma on a global scale, and the inspiration and driver of the greatest heroes of this Manvantara. In exoteric writings, he is referred to by some very unflattering names: such as Kali-Karaka, Controversial, Kapi-Vaktra, Monkey-Face, and even Pishuna-Spy, although elsewhere he is called Deva-Brama. Even Sir William Jones was very interested in this mysterious character from the data that he collected about him in his Sanskrit studies. He compares him to Hermes and Mercury and calls him “the eloquent messenger of the gods.” All this, apart from the fact that the Hindus regard him as a great Rishi “who wanders the earth forever giving good advice,” led the late Dr. Kinili to recognize him as one of his twelve Messiahs. Maybe he wasn’t as far from the truth as some people think.

Who Narada really is cannot be explained in the press; nor would the modern generation of profanes learn much from this information. But it may be noted that if there were a Deity in the Hindu Pantheon who resembled Jehovah, who seduces by “suggesting” the thoughts and “hardening” the hearts of those whom he would like to make his tools and sacrifices, it is precisely Narada. Only this last one is not motivated by the desire to find an excuse to “torture” and thereby show that “I am the Lord your God.” Nor does it act not by any ambitious or self-serving motive, but, indeed, to serve and guide world-wide progress and evolution.

Narada is one of the few outstanding characters if we exclude some gods in the Puranas who visit the so-called subterranean or infernal areas of Patala. Whether it is so or not, that Narada learned all he knew through his dealings with the thousand-headed Shesha, the Serpent, who bears the Seven Patals and the whole World like a diadem on his heads and is a great teacher of Astronomy, but undoubtedly he is superior to Master Garg in his knowledge of cyclic complexities. It is to him that our progress, our evolution, and also the people's calamities or prosperity are entrusted. It is he who causes wars and brings them to an end. In the ancient Stanzas, Pesh-Hun is credited with calculating and recording all future astronomical and cosmic cycles, as well as instructing in this science the first contemplatives of the stellar vault. It is Asuramaya who is said to have based all his astronomical works on these records and determined the duration of all past geological and cosmic periods, as well as the duration of all future Cycles until the end of this Cycle of Life or the end of the Seventh Race.

There is a work among the Hidden Books called the Mirror of the Future, in which all Kalpas within Kalpa and Cycles are recorded in the depths of Shesha or Infinite Time. This work is attributed to Pesh Hun Narada. There is another ancient work attributed to different Atlanteans. It is these two records that give us the numbers of our Cycles and the ability to calculate the timing of the coming Cycles. The chronological calculations to be given here, however, belong to the brahmin calculations, as explained later; but most of them also belong to the Secret Doctrine.

The chronology and calculations of the initiated Brahmins are based on the Hindu records of the Zodiac and on the works of the aforementioned Astronomer and Magus - Asuramay. The Atlantean records of the Zodiac cannot be wrong, for they were compiled under the guidance of those who were the first instructors of mankind and who taught them astronomy among other things.

But here we again consciously and fearlessly meet with a new difficulty. We will be told that our statement is refuted by science in the person of a man who is revered for great authority (in the West), as for all those found in Sanskrit literature - namely, prof. Albrecht Weber from Berlin. Unfortunately, we cannot help it, but we are ready to insist on what has been said. Asuramaya, to whom the traditions of the epic point as the earliest astronomer at Ariavarta, to whom the “Sun God has imparted the knowledge of the stars” in propria persona, as Dr. Weber himself claims, is identified in a very mysterious way with the Greek “Ptolemaios” (Ptolemaic). There is no more reasonable basis for such an identification than the following:

The last name (Ptolemayos), as we see it from the inscription of Piyadasi, turned into the Hindu “Turamai”, from which the name “Asura-May” could easily have come.

No doubt “could”, but the essential question is: is there any credible evidence that this happened? The only proof given is that it should be like this:

"For...this May definitely refers to Romaka Pura in the West."

May is obvious here, for no European Sanskritist can say where this area of Romakapura was, except, of course, that it is somewhere "in the West". In any case, since no member of the Asiatic Society or Orientalist of the West will ever accept or wish to heed the teachings of the Brahmins, it is useless to take into account the objections of European Orientalists. Romaca Pura was, of course, “in the West,” for it was part of the lost continent of Atlantis. And it is also true that in the Hindu Puranas, namely, Atlantis is listed as the birthplace of Asuramai, "as great a magician as the astronomer and astrologer." In addition, prof. Weber refuses to acknowledge the great antiquity of the Hindu Zodiac and is inclined to think that the Hindus knew absolutely nothing about the Zodiac before the time.

“They borrowed it from the Greeks.”

This statement goes against the most ancient traditions of India, and therefore should be ignored. We are all the more right not to admit it, as the German professor himself tells us in the preface to his work that

“In addition to the natural obstacles which hinder investigation [in India], there still prevails a thick fog of superstition and prejudice, which sweeps over the country and envelops it like a veil.”

It is not surprising that, when caught in this veil, Dr. Weber himself was led into unwitting error. Let's hope he's better informed now.

Now whether Asuramaya will be regarded as a modern myth, as a person who flourished in the days of the Macedonian Greeks, or who he is according to the occultists, at least his calculations are completely consistent with the Secret Records. From fragments of works of great antiquity attributed to the astronomer Atlantis and found in South India, was compiled in 1884 and 1885 two very learned Brahmins calendar, mentioned elsewhere. This work is declared by the best pandits to be flawless - from a Brahmanical point of view - and thus belongs to the chronology of orthodox teachings. If we compare the statements in it with those made a few years earlier in Isis Unveiled, and with the fragmentary teachings published by some Theosophists, as well as with the real data extracted from the Secret Books of Occultism, the whole will be quite consistent, except for some small details that cannot be explained, for otherwise the secrets of the higher Initiation would not be revealed to the author, just as they would be unknown to the author.

BRAMIN CHRONOLOGY

There is no greater mystery in science, no more hopelessly insoluble problem than the question: What is the antiquity, even approximately, of the Sun and Moon, of the Earth and Man? What does modern science know about the duration of the centuries of existence of the World or even geological periods?

Nothing, absolutely nothing.

If we turn to science for chronological information, then the most sincere and fair, like, for example, Pangelli, a well-known geologist, will say, “We do not know.” We know that until now no reliable calculation of the ages of the existence of the World and Man could be made, and that both geology and anthropology are on the high seas. Nevertheless, when a student of Esoteric Philosophy dares to advance the teachings of Occult Science, he is immediately attacked. Why is this so, since the greatest scientists, being provided with their own physical methods, could not come to at least a rough agreement?

It is true that science can hardly be blamed for this. Indeed, in the Simmerian darkness of pre-historic centuries, researchers are lost in a labyrinth, the longest corridors of which, without doors, do not give any visible exit leading to the archaic past. Lost among the heaps of their own contradictory theories, and rejecting, as they have always done, the evidence of the Eastern Tradition, having no clue, no reliable milestone, to be guided by them, which geologists or anthropologists can achieve, unless they pick up the fine thread of Ariadne where they first see it, and follow it completely. Therefore, we are told, first of all, that the most remote time, to which documentary records refer, is now generally considered by anthropology, as only “the earliest, definitely distinct point, of the pre-historic period,” according to the writer of the article in the Encyclopaedia Britannica.

At the same time, they recognize that "beyond this period, in the depths of centuries, extends an extensive and indefinite series of pre-historical centuries."

It is with these so-called “centurys” that we begin. They are “pre-historic” only to the naked eye of Matter. For the spiritual eye, the eagle eye of the Seer and the Prophet in all Races, the thread of Ariadne extends beyond this "historical period," without tearing or flaw, confidently and firmly into the very depths of the night of time; and the hand holding it is too powerful to let it out or even let it break. Records exist, though they may be rejected by the ignorant as fictions; in fact, many of them are silently accepted by philosophers and men of great knowledge, and invariably rejected only by the official and collective corporation of orthodox science. And since the latter refuses to give us even an approximate idea of the duration of the geological ages - excluding a few controversial contradictory hypotheses - we will see what the Aryan Philosophy can enlighten us.

Calculations such as those given in Manu and Puranas, excluding trifling and unquestionably deliberate exaggerations, are, as has already been said, almost identical with those taught in Esoteric Philosophy. This can be seen by comparing the two on any Hindu orthodox calendar.

At present, the best and most complete of all such calendars, as verified by the learned Brahmins of South India, is the already mentioned Tamil calendar, called Tirukkanda Panchanga, which is said to be composed on the basis of secret fragments from the data left by Asuramaya, with which it quite agrees.

And just as it is claimed that Asuramaya was the greatest astronomer, so it is added in a whisper that he was the most powerful “witch” of the “White Island that became black from sin”, that is, one of the islands of Atlantis.

White Island is a symbolic name. It is said that Asuramaya, according to tradition preserved in Jnana-bhaskara, lived in Romaka-pura in the West; for this name is a hint of the country and cradle of the "Afterborn" of the Third Race. This land, or continent, disappeared for centuries before Asuramaya lived, for he was an Atlantean; but he was a direct descendant of the Wise Race, a Race that never dies. There are many legends concerning this hero, the disciple of Surya, the Sun-God himself, as the Hindu chronicles claim. It doesn’t matter if he lived on an island, but the question is to prove that he isn’t a myth, as Dr. Weber and others would like. The fact that Romaka Pura in the West is called the birthplace of this hero of archaic times is all the more interesting because he clearly hints at the Esoteric doctrine of the Later-born Races, people born of the “por of their parents”. “Roma-Kupas” means “hair pores” in Sanskrit. In the Mahabharata it is said that the people called Raumas were created from the pores of Virabhadr, the terrible giant who destroyed the Daksha's sacrifice. Other tribes and peoples are also shown to be born in the same way. They all date back to the end of the Second and the beginning of the Third Root-Race.

The following figures are taken from the calendar just mentioned: the note indicates points of divergence from the figures of the Aria-Samaj school:

I. From the Beginning of Cosmic Evolution to the Hindu Year of Taran or (1887)

1,955,884,687 years.

II. (Astral) mineral, vegetable, and animal kingdoms before Man demanded for their development

300,000,000 years.

III. Time from the first appearance of Humanity (on our Planetary Chain)

1,664,500,987 years.

IV. Number of years elapsed from Manvantara Vaivasvata - or Humane The period up to 1887 is calculated exactly in

18,618,728 years.

V. The Complete Period of One Manvantara

308,448,000 years.

VI. Fourteen Manvantar plus The period of one Satya of the South is one day of Brahma or full Manvantara, or

4,320,000,000 years.

The Maha-Yuga consists of

4,320,000 years.

Between the year 1887 and the beginning of Kali Yuga leaked

4,989 years.

For more clarity in detail, the following calculations by Rao Bahadur P. Srinivas Rowe is cited here from "Theosophist" for November, 1885.

Years of death.

360 days of mortals are one year

1.

Crete South

1,728,000.

The Third South

1,296,000.

Dvapara Yuga

864,000.

Kali Yuga

432,000.

The four Souths are all Maha-Souths.

4,320,000.

Seventy-one such Maha-Yugs constitute the reign of one Manu.

306,720,000.

The reign of the fourteen Manu covers the duration of 994 Maha-South, which is equal to

4,294,080,000.

Add Sandhis, i.e., the intervals between the reigns of each Manu, which will correspond to the six Maha Yugas equal to

25,920,000.

The result of these reigns and interregnums of the Fourteen Manu is 1,000 Maha Yugam, which is Kalpa, i.e. one Day of Brahma.

4,320,000,000.

Since the Night of Brahma is of the same duration, one day and night of Brahma will contain

8,640,000,000.

360 such days and nights constitute one Year of Brahma, equal to

3,110,400,000,000.

100 such years constitute the full period of the Age of Brahma, i.e., Maha-Kalpa

311,040,000,000,000.

These are the exoteric figures accepted throughout India, and they correspond fairly closely to the figures of the Hidden Teachings. The latter, moreover, supplement them by a division into several Esoteric Cycles, never mentioned in the publicly available Brahminic writings - one of which, namely the division of the South into Race Cycles, is given as an example elsewhere. The rest, of course, have never been published in their details. Nevertheless, they are known to every "twice-born" (Jvija or Initiate) brahmin, and the Puranas contain mention of some of them in disguised terms, which none of our Orientalists have yet tried to decipher, nor could they if they even wanted to.

These secret astronomical cycles belong to the great antiquity, and most of them belong, as it is said, to the calculations of Narada and Asuramai. The latter is known as the Giant and the Magician. But the antediluvian Giants, the Gibborim of the Bible, were not all bad or sorcerers, as Christian theology would have it, seeing in every Occultist a servant of the Spirit of Evil; nor were they inferior to many "faithful sons of the church." Torquemada and Catherine de Medici have done more evil in their time and in the name of their Lord than any giant of Atlantis or the Half-God of antiquity ever did, whether they were called Cyclops or Medusa, or even the Orphic Titan, the monster known as Ethialtes. In ancient times there were good “giants”, just as there are now bad “pygmies”. And Rakshasa and Yakshasa from the island of Lanka is no worse than our modern dynamite and some Christian and civilized generals during modern wars. Nor can they be considered myths.

“Those who want to mock Briarey and Orion should refrain from visiting or even talking about Karnak and Stonehenge.”

A modern writer noticed.

Since the above figures are approximately the basic calculations of our Esoteric System, the reader is asked to remember them carefully.

In the Encyclopaedia Britannica we find, as the last word of science, the assumption that the antiquity of man could cover only a little more than “ten thousand years”. It becomes obvious that since these figures can fluctuate between 10,000 and 100,000, they have very little value, if any, and only further thicken the darkness surrounding this issue. Besides, what does it matter whether science places the birth of man in the “pre- or post-glacial period” if at the same time we are told that the so-called “Ice Age” is simply a long succession of centuries that

"Passed without any drastic change into what is called the human or recent period... being on top of each other geological periods was the rule from the beginning of time."

As a consequence of the latter “rule” is a summary that causes even more bewilderment, even if it is exactly scientific and correct. Exactly what

“Even today, man is a contemporary of the ice age in the Alps and in Finnmarken.”

Thus, if it were not for the lessons taught by the Secret Doctrine and even by exoteric Hinduism and its traditions, we would still be left in perplexity and uncertainty between the indefinite “Cages” of one scientific school and the “ten thousand” of another, and the 6000 years of Bible interpreters. This is one of the many reasons why, with all due respect to the conclusions of modern scientists, we are forced to ignore them in all such matters of prehistoric antiquity.

Of course, modern geology and anthropology must disagree with our views. But Occultism will find as many weapons against these two sciences as it has against astronomical and physical theories, despite Lang's assurances that:

“There are no theories in [chronological] calculations of this order relating to the most ancient and later formations, because they are based on positive facts, limited only by a certain number of possible (?) errors in one direction or another.”

Occultism, having in its hands the recognition of science, will prove that geology is very mistaken and very often even more than astronomy. In these very words, quoted by Mr. Lang, who gives geology an advantage over astronomy, we find words in clear contradiction to the assumptions of the best geologists as such. The author states:

“In short, the conclusions of geology, at least up to the Silurian period, when the present order of things was already sufficiently laid down, are approximate facts, not theories, whereas the astronomical conclusions are theories based on such unreliable data that while in some cases they give consequences incredibly brief ... in others, they give consequences of incredible duration ...”

Then the reader is advised that "the surest way"

"It seems to be the assumption that geology does prove that the present order of things lasts about 100 million years or more; astronomy, on the other hand, devotes the birth, growth, maturity, decay, and death of the solar system, in which our Earth is a small planet now passing through the habitability phase, a vast, though unknown, time extending far beyond this into the past and into the future."

Judging from past experience, there is no doubt that since scientists will be called upon to respond to the “ridiculous, unscientific, and boastful assertions of the exoteric (and Esoteric) Aryan chronology,” as a scientist who asserts an “incredibly brief consequence,” that is, only 15,000,000 years, and a scientist "who would require 600,000,000 years", together with those who accepted Huxley's figures, namely 1,000,000,000 From the moment of the beginning of sedimentation in Europe, all of them will be equally dogmatic. They will not fail to remind the occultist and the Brahmin that only modern scientists are representatives of exact science, whose duty is to fight against “inaccuracy” and “superstition.”.

The earth goes through a “habitability phase” only for the present order of things and because our present humanity needs its true “skin shells” and phosphorus for bones and brains.

We are ready to accept 100,000,000 years suggested by geology, for we are taught that real physical humanity - or Vaivasvata Manu humanity - has only begun 18,000,000 years ago. But, as we have already proved, geology cannot give us the facts to determine the length of geological periods, any more than astronomy. Original letter from Pengelli, member of the Cor. The general, cited elsewhere, states:

“At present, and perhaps always will be impossible to translate, at least approximately, geological time in years or even in millennia.”

And since geology has never yet unearthed a fossilized man of any form other than his real one, what can it know about him? It traced the zones or strata and with them the original zoological life back to the Silurian period. When it traces man back to his primary protoplasmic form in the same way, then we recognize that it may know something about the primary man. If not very significantly "for the consequences of modern scientific discoveries on modern thought," is it really

“Man has existed for the last 50,000 years out of a period of 15,000,000 years, or for the last 500,000 years out of a period of 150,000,000 years.”

As reported to his readers c. Lange, it is very important for the claim of the occultists. If the latter do not prove the possibility, if not the perfect certainty, that man lived 18,000,000 years ago, then the Secret Doctrine may as well have remained unwritten. Therefore, an attempt must be made in this direction, and it is the evidence of our modern geologists and scientists in general that will be given to confirm this fact in the third part of this volume. So far, and despite the fact that the Hindu chronology is constantly presented by Orientalists as an invention, not based on “real” calculation, but simply as “childish boasting”, nevertheless, it is often distorted to the point of being completely unrecognizable in order to make it conform to Western theories. No number has ever been more confusing and distorted than the famous 4, 3, 2, followed by the zeros of South and Maha-South.

Since the whole cycle of prehistoric events, such as the evolution and transformation of the Races and the extremely great antiquity of man, is based on this chronology, it becomes extremely important to compare it with other existing calculations. If the Eastern chronology is rejected, we will at least have the consolation of proving that no other, whether in numbers of science or church, is more trustworthy. As expressed by prof. Max Muller, it is often also useful to prove what a given thing is not, as well as to show what it can be. And once we have succeeded in pointing out the errors of both Christian and scientific calculus — giving them a fine case to compare with our chronology — none of them will have a reasonable reason to declare the esoteric figures less reliable than their own.

Here we may refer the reader to our earlier work, Isis Unveiled, for some remarks concerning the figures given a few pages earlier.

At present, several more facts can be added to the information already known to every orientalist. The Secret of Cycle 4320 With the additional zeros lies the fact that the numbers composing it, taken separately or combined in different combinations, are, all without exception, symbols of the greatest mysteries of Nature. Are we really going to separate 4 or 3, As such, or both 7, Or all three together 4, 3, 2, Govt 9, but all these numbers have their application in the most secret occult questions and record the work of Nature in its eternally periodic manifestations. These numbers are always accurate, constantly repeated and reveal to the one who studies the mysteries of Nature, the truly divine System, the intelligent Plan in Cosmogony, expressed in the natural cosmic divisions of time and seasons, in invisible influences, in astronomical phenomena with their influences and reactions to earthly and even moral nature; to birth, death, growth, health and disease. All these natural events are based on and depend on cyclical processes in the Cosmos itself and produce periodic intermediaries that, acting from the outside, affect the Earth and everything that lives and breathes on it from the beginning to the end of each Manvantara. Causes and effects are esoteric, exoteric, and “endexoteric,” so to speak.

In Isis Unveiled, we wrote what we are repeating now: “We are at the lowest point of the Cycle and obviously in a state of transition.” Plato divides the mental progress of the universe, during each cycle, into fertile and barren periods. In the sublunar regions, the spheres of the various elements remain eternally in perfect harmony with the Divine Nature, he says: “but parts of them”, due to their too close proximity to the Earth and their mixing with the earthly [that is, Matter and therefore the region of evil], “sometimes agree with (the Divine) Nature, sometimes they resist it.” When these circulations, which Eliphas Levi calls the “flows of the Astral Light,” in the universal Ether, containing all the elements, take place in harmony with the Divine Spirit, our Earth and all those belonging to it enjoy a fruitful period. The occult powers of plants, animals, and minerals are magically sympathetic or in harmony with the “higher natures,” and the Divine Soul of man is in perfect accord with these “lower” natures. But during the barren periods, the latter lose their magical sympathy, and the spiritual sight of the majority of mankind is so blinded that it loses all notion of the higher faculties of its Divine Spirit. We are in an infertile period; the eighteenth century, during which so rampant a fever of skepticism has spread, has produced the disbelief it has transmitted as a hereditary disease to the nineteenth century. The divine mind is clouded in man, and only his animal brain "philosophizes." And doing only philosophizing, how can he understand the “Soul Doctrine”?
