Events 365 + 1

An event is a beginning.
Action carries it forward.

An editorial programme for observation, discussion, practice and passing on experience. An event’s substantive result remains in an article, a map of questions, a document or a task for the next team.

Editorial cycle

Four steps.
One transmission of meaning.

Select a step. Each leaves a clear result for the next participant; the cycle’s duration depends on the topic and the team’s capacity.

Step 01

Identify the task.

Start with a resource, an observation or a question from a territory. Clarify the sources and separate the description of the situation from its interpretation.

Outcome of the phase

  • Summary of the topic and list of sources.
  • Questions for which there is not yet enough data.
  • A proposal for the next format: an article, interview or discussion.

Event formats

From agenda to document.

The following are editorial proposals. Dates, venues and participants will be announced after agreement; registration is not currently open.

Proposed programme · Round table

What helps a territory thrive?

A meeting point for “Living Village”: local knowledge, employment, cultural memory and cooperation. Potential participants include practitioners, educational teams and researchers of territories.

  1. Which skills and knowledge remain locally, and which leave with people?
  2. How are craft, learning and the opportunity to work in one’s own territory connected?
  3. What needs to be recorded so that another team can use the experience?

Expected document: a map of practices, open questions and proposals for shared work.

Proposed programme · Conference

Heritage, technology, people.

Three thematic sessions connect engineering education, life in territories and methods for interpreting complex systems.

  1. Heritage as a source of engineering knowledge: the object, its history and its explanation.
  2. Territorial development practices: conditions, participants and limitations.
  3. Analytical culture: sources, time, connections and verification of conclusions.

Expected document: a thematic issue presenting participants’ positions and the grounds for further decisions.

Cycle relays

Pass on the result
together with its conditions.

In the author’s material “Collective Intelligence”, relay cycles concern the transfer of information, resources and states between participants over time. In editorial work, this means that the result of one stage becomes the input for the next.

The handover package includes the question, sources, completed work, limitations, unresolved tasks and the contact details of the responsible participant. In this way, the journal, round table and practical work form a sequence.
